You're such a mom!
Okay, I must admit that being a mom is certainly an honor but sometimes I forget that I am not young, fit and fabulous anymore (not sure I ever was...). Add to this that the other day at work one of the pretty, young things who advertises that she only weighs 109 lbs (gag) comes to me and annouces "you're such a mom!". Should I be offended, probably not but nevertheless I was. I shuttered to think that I am obviously one of those 3o something women who looks like a mom, wears comfortable shoes, stretchy shorts, goes around with her hair in a pony tail and makes neato food items.
Consider this scenario:
1. Dan tells me my shorts are too short which I have had for many years now on the way to the all star game last night.
2.The checkout boy at the grocery could piece together my plan for swamp cake and knew exactly how "good moms" make this stuff out of pudding, cool whip, oreos and some sort of gummy worm or other gross thing. He knew I was making deviled eggs, too.
3. I can only wear comfortable shoes, nothing too strappy.
Then today in the kitchen as I am making swamp cake and deviled eggs and reviewing my routine from the past 24hrs a revelation hits me. I have officially arrived to 30 something momhood. No more hiding in the closet with short shorts of days gone by or hoping for 6 pack abs. Those days are gone along with bikinis, starvation diets, baking in the sun endlessly, and wearing sexy shoes. Instead, here I sit as one of those "moms". At least I'm ranked as a good one.
Enjoy my ranch deviled eggs and swamp cake.
Love, Mom!

Young boy lobbys for trampoline-can you help?
Michael Donaldson, rising 3rd grader is lobbying with great effort to establish permanent placement of a trampoline in his back yard. He has tested other trampolines owned by friends which has brought him to the final conclusion of how he and his family would benefit from permanent placement of a trampoline in his yard. After great research for the safest trampoline, Michael has decided on a springfree version from Australia where you cannot fall out of the unit. Details can be seen on the website and at costco website
Michael asks anyone who is willing to help his cause to please notify him at teamdm3@comcast.net where he can provide further details.
Here is the all star team! We are off to the state championships today. It is a double elimination tournament held just outside of Richmond. Dan tells me that Matt is "crushing" the ball (that means something outstanding I guess) and has a Ken Griffey style of swinging the bat and then settles with it just before the pitcher throws. Quite intimidating I understand. He also plays 3rd base and does well there too. Wish us luck!
Suri-the ice cube attacker
Suri LOVES to attach the ice cubes as they come popping out of the ice maker. It is so funny because she runs off with them and growls at you if you try to get them back. She is quite entertained with this little game. I think it helps her cool off under her gorgeous mane! Suri, you're so silly girl.
Happy Father's Day 2007
