I was invited to my first ever cookie exchange. At invitation I was told that "packaging counts". OMG! What does that mean, nevermind that I hate to make cookies. So after a month of agonizing what to make, I decide that I would go with oatmeal cookies since those are Dan's favorite. I found a recipe from Paula Dean for Ultimate Oatmeal cookies. It comes with 5 star from the food network which means it should be rocking, right. So after 2 hours of preparation and only one batch of cookies later, my test product was complete. The food critics here at home then responded with, "yeah, they're okay." OKAY! Are you kidding me? So, I then gave up and decided not to go. Come morning time I rallied around and decided to go with the quaker recipe on the box of the oatmeal. It is the best cookie recipe and I highly recommend that to any novice baker. So then, off I went with my beautiful package of cookies hopeful to make the cut for the exchange next year. I did and will make something simpler next year. I still hate baking cookies!
