Kids day at Williamsburg-The George Wythe House

We learned how to weave baskets. It was really fun. The idea of the time was for all children to have the ability to know how to make willow baskets since a basket meant a lot back then. The size of the basket was designed for the size of the individual. Small baskets for young children, large ones for adults and everyone in between. Interestingly, baskets were of no value and not for sale. How did the longaberger craze come to be at $50+ per basket. My how times have changed. Michael begins the weaving

Okay, young lad. Let's see what you got.
